Dear Lancer Families,
This year our corporation applied for and won the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund Grant, or GEERs grant. It is designed to help schools in two main areas: improving device availability and connectivity, as well as helping teachers leverage technology in their virtual teaching. We feel fortunate to have won both parts of this competitive grant.
We have worked to improve our connectivity for students who were unable to connect to the internet by purchasing and deploying hot spots students have been able to check out for home use. Although not perfect, the hot spots have helped us reach a broader group of students during virtual learning.
Our administrative team and teachers have worked with our local service center, NIESC, to determine areas of need in implementing technologies that will help support our students in virtual learning. The service center will be providing two trainers who will train our teachers two Mondays each month during the second semester. To facilitate these trainings, both the Elementary and the Jr./Sr. High will be conducting eLearning days on the following dates: January 11th, 25th, February 8th, 22nd, March 8th, 29th, April 12th, 26th, and May 10th, 17th.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve our ability to serve students. Both schools will continue to share reminders and other information necessary to notify you of any other changes to the schedule.
