LAKEVILLE, IN. - The Family And Consumer Science room inside the LaVille Jr.-Sr. High School is being demolished to make way for renovations. FACS is one of most popular electives in the Jr.-Sr. High serving approximately thirty students per class. According to Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter, the new area will bring a more functionable space for both cooking labs and sewing. The state of the art room will have a conventional area for students who want to sharpen their domestic skills. Plus, it will feature a commercial kitchen for students who might be serious about a future in culinary arts.
"This is the first phase of this project with the rooms on the north side of B hallway will get demolished starting around Christmas break," explained Mawhorter. "All of the renovated rooms will get modernized with new ceilings, wall coverings, flooring and HVAC units. The rooms will be very much like the renovations already completed in A hallway and upstairs. We are hopeful that all of these rooms will be complete this coming spring."
Stay tuned for more updates as the project moves forward. We will also provide newly renovated pictures once the project is finished.
