We are coming back!!! This Monday, September 21st, LaVille will move into Stage 1 in-person learning. This means all students will be coming to school for the first time since March 13th. Those families who choose to stay with the virtual option will be allowed to do so.
Dr. Mark Fox from the St. Joseph County Health Department helped us plan and make this decision. He stressed the importance of following our plan to mitigate the chances of spread. I would like to emphasize some key points to staying in Stage 1. One, if your student is sick, then don’t send them to school to potentially infect others. Two, mask up! Make sure to send a mask with your student that covers both their nose and mouth. If they are without a mask, then one will be provided for them. Three, let your child know how important it is to wash their hands or use the hand sanitizer we have in place. We want to be safe for each other, and we also want to stay in Stage 1.
I want to thank all parents and students for what I have seen during our Blue and White days. The students have done an excellent job of using their masks. Also, they have followed the protocols for the lunchroom and restroom breaks. As we would expect, our students are meeting the challenges. Parents please keep up your coaching from home. I realize how stressful this time has been for you, and I appreciate your perseverance.
I would also like to give a shout out to our teachers, nurses, secretaries, aides, cafeteria workers, drivers, custodians and administrators who have been working extremely hard to get through the pandemic. Thank them if you get the chance. They all serve a very important role in our schools.
We are looking forward to seeing your students on Monday!
