LAKEVILLE, IN. - Union-North United School Corporation continues to upgrade in the area of technology.
The school corporation recently ordered 300 chromebooks and over 30 promethean boards.
"Each second grader will be getting a new chromebook next year as we transition them from iPads to Chromebooks," said Union-North United School Corporation Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter. "Next, all seventh graders will be getting new Chromebooks as we update our oldest devices. The leftovers will replace the nonfunctioning devices in the 10th grade."
Chromebooks are not the only pieces of technology being replaced. The school corporation also purchased promethean boards for both LaVille Elementary School and LaVille Jr.-Sr. High School.
"The 31 new promethean boards are in the finishing stages of going up throughout the corporation with 10 in the Jr. Sr. High and 21 in the Elementary," explained Mawhorter. "The promethean board is an essential tool for most of our teachers akin to the chalk and blackboard of previous generations of teachers. Our teachers use the boards with great creativity, allowing for a greater connection with our students.
"Our commitment to continually monitor and upgrade our technology is evident with these investments," continued the UNUSC superintendent. "Our technology staff does an excellent job of meeting the demands placed upon it from our staff and students. Our community is very fortunate to have such support from our Board on down when it comes to technology."
